“Ask For The Old Paths” PDF Print E-mail

Through the years, many have drifted far from the teachings of the New Testament. They teach a different plan of salvation (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38), wear names invented by men (Acts 11:26), worship as they wish and not as God has instructed (Acts 20:7; Ephesians 5:19), and have swapped the old standard of right and wrong for a "new morality." The word of the Lord, however, does not change. It is "the faith which was once for all delivered!" (Jude 1:3).

Good advice for today is the words God spoke to Judah in the days of Jeremiah: "stand in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls" (Jeremiah 6:16). Search the scriptures to see if the things that you have been taught and have done are in the New Testament (Acts 17:11). Accept nothing less than the truth!

A perverted gospel cannot save (Galatians 1:6-9), and those who teach and practice for doctrine the commandments of men worship vainly (Matthew 15:8,9). Such changes may seem good, but they are not (Proverbs 14:12). Only by walking in the "old paths" found in the New Testament will you find "rest for your souls."
